Absolutely! Salaam Cave is perfect for families. The water is calm and safe for swimming, making it a great spot for children to enjoy. Kids love feeding the fish and exploring the cave. We recommend bringing swim gear, sunscreen, and towels. Lifeguards are not always on-site, so parental supervision is advised for young children.
Salaam Cave is located in Kizimkazi, approximately 70 km south of Stone Town. The journey takes about 1.5 to 2 hours by car or taxi. You can also reach Kizimkazi by daladala (local minibus) from Stone Town. We recommend booking a guided tour or private transfer with us for a comfortable and hassle-free experience, allowing you to fully enjoy the scenic coastal drive.
To make the most of your visit, we recommend bringing:
  • Swimwear & towel – for swimming in the cave
  • Water shoes – the cave floor can be slippery
  • Sunscreen & hat – the Zanzibar sun is strong
  • Underwater camera or phone – for capturing the magic
  • Cash – for entrance fees and optional extras

Yes, absolutely! Kizimkazi is famous for its dolphin tours, and we highly recommend combining your visit to Salaam Cave with a morning dolphin-watching experience. You can enjoy swimming with wild dolphins in the Indian Ocean and then visit the cave later in the day. We offer combo packages that include both activities, making it a full day of adventure and unforgettable memories!
